Candid, colourful wedding photography at Fairyhill

If you’re planning a wedding at Fairyhill and the idea of awkward posing makes you want to disappear slightly… you’re in the right place.

Most of my couples feel exactly the same. You don’t need to know what you’re doing. You don’t need to be “good in front of the camera”. You just need to turn up, get married, and have a really good time. I’ll take care of the rest.

Why Fairyhill is such a lovely place to get married

Fairyhill is one of those venues that just feels easy.

You’ve got loads of space, beautiful light, and everything’s close enough that the day flows without feeling rushed. You’re not being dragged from one place to another all day, which means you actually get to spend time with your people (which, funnily enough, is when the best photos happen).

There’s also a really nice balance between indoor and outdoor space, so whatever the Welsh weather decides to do, you’re covered.

How I photograph weddings here (and in general)

I’m not going to turn your wedding into a photoshoot.

You won’t be standing around wondering what to do with your hands for hours, and I’m not going to pull you away from your guests every five minutes either.

What I will do is:

gently guide you when you need it
give you something simple to do so you don’t feel awkward
then step back and let things happen naturally

Most of the day, I’m just watching for moments - the laughs, the nervous glances, the little in-between bits you don’t even realise are happening. That’s the stuff that ends up meaning the most later.

The kind of couples I tend to photograph

The couples I work with are usually pretty similar in one way.

They don’t want their day to feel staged. They want to have a laugh, spend time with their guests, feel like themselves and not worry about “doing it right”.

There’s usually a lot of hugging, a lot of laughter, and at least one moment where someone unexpectedly cries (often not the person you’d expect). Sometimes there’s a dog involved, which is always a bonus.

Where we’ll take photos at Fairyhill

One of the best things about Fairyhill is you don’t need to go far to get loads of variety.

We’ve got:

the gardens for relaxed couple photos
open space for confetti (without everyone feeling squashed)
lovely indoor areas if it rains
and soft, natural light pretty much everywhere

So instead of disappearing for ages, we can keep things quick, easy, and still end up with a really varied gallery.

You really don’t need to know how to pose

I know this is the bit people worry about most.

And I get it - it’s a bit weird having your photo taken all day. But genuinely, you don’t need to come prepared with poses or practice in the mirror beforehand.

I’ll give you enough direction so you don’t feel awkward, but nothing that feels forced or unnatural. Most of the time, I’ll just get you to do something simple (like walk, chat, or take a second together), and the rest just… happens.
